Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions I hear most often

How do I know if my baby is getting enough milk?

Look for wet diapers (6+ per day after day 5), regular bowel movements, weight gain, and a content baby between feeds. Trust your instincts, but don't hesitate to reach out if you're concerned!

Is it normal for breastfeeding to hurt?

Some initial tenderness is normal, but persistent pain isn't! If you're experiencing ongoing discomfort, there's likely a latch or positioning issue that can be fixed.

How often should my newborn nurse?

Newborns typically nurse 8-12 times in 24 hours. Follow your baby's cues rather than the clock - some babies prefer frequent short feeds, others longer sessions.

Can I breastfeed if I had a C-section?

C-section doesn't prevent breastfeeding. You might need extra positioning support initially, and your milk may come in a day or two later, but you can definitely succeed.
